Description
Batavian Endive Seeds
About– Also known as escarole, this variety resembles lettuce but has a much sharper flavor and is slightly bitter. Commonly used in fresh salads but can be braised or steamed for a side vegetable. Easy to grow.
When and Where to Plant– Direct sow around your last frost date in the spring or for a fall crop sow in late summer. Prefers lightly amended soils and a sunny location.
Care and Harvest– Water often, as a lack of water will make them more bitter. Cut right above soil level for continuous harvest. If harvesting in the fall, make sure to harvest before frost.
